Mindfulness meditation 6 week course

Upcoming Course: Monday 18th March, 2024.

7:30pm - 9pm

Join Anna Davies, psychologist,  mindfulness facilitator, yoga and meditation teacher for this 6 week journey.

In this 6 week immersion we will delve deep into the workings of our nervous system and use mindfulness based tools and principles to support us to effectively regulate our nervous system as we navigate the challenges of life.

Anna will blend her decade long exploration and practice of Mindfulness, Meditation, Self Compassion, and recent studies in Polyvagal Theory and Somatic Psychology into this dynamic and transformative 6 week course.

Each week, we will gather, sit in circle, drink tea and journey together through the rich, evidence-based, heart-centred practices.

Each 90 minute session will include a short grounding practice, followed by check in and discussion, theory with some addition practice, finishing with a 20 minute meditation and debrief.

You will be supported to take these practices and meditations into your daily life with "at home" practice support, including guided meditations to facilitate a daily home practice of meditation.

Together, we will explore...

  • Cultivating presence and connection with the richness and vibrancy of our five senses.
We'll learn how to focus our attention on anchors to the present moment, so we learn to be less distracted and more intentional, thus supporting us to live a more rich, full and meaningful life.
  • We will develop a newfound friendship with the breath and the body and practice attuning to the breath and the body as a source of grounding, to gain wisdom and insight into our internal landscape and as a potential source of healing.
  • We'll learn about the brain and our nervous system and how some of these simple and powerful practices to support nervous system regulation.
  • You will learn how to become your own best friend, how to begin to treat yourself with kindness, and strengthen your capacity to both give and receive compassion and kindness.
  • You will learn how to drop the struggle with difficult thoughts and feelings, and learn to respond to your experiences with greater ease and compassion and less reactivity.
  • Exploring and applying the key attitudes for mindfulness: beginner's mind, curiosity, acceptance, non-judgment, letting go, compassion, non-striving and patience.

In addition:

  • I will be offering DAILY home practices, including guided meditations, journalling exercises and exercises to support you to start integrating mindfulness as a way of being and living.
And, most importantly, we'll do this together, in community with each other. A way of feeling supported and connected as we learn, experience and grow.

This course is for those new to Mindfulness and Meditation as well as those who have previous experience.

What is included?

  • Weekly in person sessions held at Ananda Yoga Belgrave
  • Monday evenings: 7:30pm - 9pm
  • Daily Guided meditation recordings and other mindfulness and self compassion based practices to support your 'at home' practice.

What is Mindfulness?

Mindfulness is practice of cultivating an open, friendly, non judgmental awareness to your he present moment.

Mindfulness can be a really helpful practice to support us in responding to difficult thoughts, feelings and emotions. Rather than struggling with these experiences, mindfulness supports us to change our relationship to difficult thoughts, feelings and emotions so we can have greater freedom to focus on what is important to us. Thus, turning our attention to living a rich, full and meaningful life.

Why?

We live in a society and a culture that is increasingly asking more and more from us. Many of us feel challenged to keep up with this unsustainable pace of life.

We can lose contact with ourselves and lose contact with the people and the world around us.

Mindfulness and meditation are needed more than ever before.

As we find greater peace, space and stillness within, we have room to connect with greater openness, love and connection to the people and the world around us.
